Bio Sarah Siltala, a Santa Fe native, was born into a family of professional artists. Her father is a ceramic artist who also paints in pastel, her mother was a fiber artist and weaver and now works in found object assemblage, and her sister creates watercolor and encaustic mixed media paintings. Sarah was raised in a very creative environment surrounded by art, music, and the cultural richness and beauty of New Mexico. She feels her art education began at a very early age and remembers going to art galleries and shows with her parents and spending time in their studios when she was young. Spending time in nature was also a large part of her upbringing, and the splendor and brilliant light of northern New Mexico created impressions that continue to affect her art work today.
