Sarah employs a classical glazing technique in which transparent oil colors are thinly built upon each other like layers of stained glass. This produces a myriad of rich, gem-like tones and a depth unattainable with the usual technique of mixing wet pigments. With the addition of each layer, the painting slowly evolves into its final, colorful interpretation. The result is an artwork with vibrant, luminous color and subtle texture. Her award winning paintings have an Old World elegance, yet the colors and compositions are quite contemporary. The paintings reflect Sarah’s meditative style of painting and her main desire in life: to create peace and beauty in an often chaotic world. |
