“Siltala’s oil paintings of still life and landscape come from a realist tradition that was born in works by European masters. Siltala creates golden-toned visual poems that speak to her viewers through honest simplicity and formal beauty.”

WELCOME
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I share my paintings and the stories behind them. My journey began with still life—quiet studies of light, form, and beauty—but over time, my work grew to reflect a deeper love for the natural world, especially birds.
I was born and raised in New Mexico, and its skies, landscapes, and shifting seasons have shaped how I see the world. As I learned to observe more closely—the play of clouds, the way light moves across a field—I became captivated by the birds just outside my window. They were always there, nesting, migrating, calling. Eventually, I picked up a camera to understand them better, and what began as observation turned into passion.
Birding, photography, and painting became intertwined. My goal now is to capture not only the beauty of birds but something of their spirit—their individuality, their stillness and flight. I often pair them with exquisite vessels, a kind of quiet dialogue between the wild and the human-made. My work is, at its heart, an offering: a small reminder that harmony with nature is possible, and often closer than we think.
